iPad Giveaway
It seems like a lot of companies and groups giving people a chance to win a free iPad by hosting contests and giveaways. It is important to remember that some of these may be scams, or fake just to get your personal information. The incentive of winning something that is originally expensive for free is a great way to get drawn it.
However, there are a lot of honest organizations and people who are keeping their word, and giving away free iPads. So how do we know which offers are real or fake? Think about the following before you start entering in your personal information:
1. Does their offer look real or professional?
2. Do they have other people following them? (eg: Twitter or Facebook)
3. Do they make outrageous promises? (eg: 1000s of iPads given out each month)
If they have a good looking website that doesn’t look like it has been put together by 5 year olds or in 5 minutes, it is a good start. Be sure to read some articles to make sure that they can speak English well (or the standard language for your region). If they have a Twitter account, or Facebook page, chances are they are legit if there are a lot of people following them. The saying often goes, if it’s too good to be true, its fake! But wait! Some people do give away things for free, but if they are giving out 1000s within a month, it is most likely fake.
Don’t worry if you have fallen for these tricks before, or are worried about fake offers. With just an email and name or contact information, the scammers can’t do much. So if you really want a free iPad, just go ahead and enter in your information, the worst thing that can happen is you don’t win, and waste a few minutes of your time. I have only signed up for 2 contests this year, which includes the one by Zagg, and iPad Giveaway.
I hope this has helped everyone in determining what is a scam or not, and good luck in your adventure in looking for free iPads!
